Removing Tokwan Worm
A new made in Malaysia worm called the Tokwan worm has hit lots of places. So far no other antivirus software can detect this worm. V-Buster Professional can detect this worm.
This worm is very difficult to remove as it will lock all EXE files.
To remove the worm.
1. Run Vbuster.Exe from DOS and use it to remove all occurance of the worm. Once a file called SVCH0ST.EXE located in C:\Windows\System32 is deleted, all the EXE files will be unlocked when you start Windows. There is another file in C:\My Documents\All Users\Desktop named Tokwan.Exe which will have to be deleted.
2. If you try to delete the infected files from Windows, they will reappear when you restart Windows.
3. If your computer has NTFS file system you must do the following:
a. Rename REGEDIT.EXE to REGEDIT.COM
b. Run the renamed REGEDIT.COM and remove 2 lines in the Windows Registry which contains SVCH0ST.EXE and TOKWAN *.*
c. Restart Windows and use Vbuster.Exe to remove all files with the worm.
V-Buster will also be able to identify and remove the files which will recreate the worm when SVSH0ST.EXE and TOKWAN.EXE are deleted.
Please note that the "0" in SVCH"0"ST is a numerical "0"
